Welcome!

Hello there and welcome!
We wanted to make this a very light hearted and just an easy way for you to get to know more about who we really are. {you know, all of those little things that you can't really get across in an adoption profile in an agency}

Kent and I{Tiffany} are an Optometry student family that was established in August of 2003 and consists of a Mommy and Daddy to-be but we can't wait to be parents. Since Kent is in his last year of Optometry we will be moving around the United States every few months for his clinical rotations, it makes an adoption blog the best way to communicate and meet anyone that might want to know more about us as an adoptive couple in waiting. We are both very open people and love any questions so please feel free to contact us.
We decided to write a smigget to explain the basis of who we are.

Our hopes and dreams

Right now we would like to paint a picture of what your child's future would look like. Both of us are very supportive of any activities they would want to learn in the future. We'd like to encourage them to take lessons in something in the arts as well as one sport at least and where it goes from there is fine with us. We look forward to coaching teams and cheering loudly for them at their sports games of choice. We'll be the proudest parents at the school play when they want to display their talents. We look forward to having time to work on projects for school together and teaching them to enjoy learning. A great day in our lives would be the day that we attend their graduation from a higher educational institution of their choice. After Kent is finished with school we will be moving into a larger home, near family, in a younger community that has lots of nature for them to explore with their friends. Family vacations will also be a part of a yearly routine for us because we want to make sure they have close bonds with their entire family throughout their entire life. Both of us want nothing but the best for your child and we will do everything we can for the child's spiritual, physical, social and emotional development. We are a family that enjoys traditions that will bring our family closer together and teach them important lessons in life. We imagine our family as one that will have a lot of laughter and tears over fond memories of family vacations and everyday events. We will create a safe home where everyone knows that they are welcomed and loved. We have a strong faith in Christ and we make that the center of our home. This is the short and sweet on us. Please stay tuned and have a look around for more Manville :)

Fun Pictures of Us

If you want to see captions, as you may not always know what's going on in the picture, just put the curser over the picture and it will highlight it and show the caption.
We love children and below is some of our nieces and nephews and the fun times that we've had with them. Some are just close friends of the family that we love just as much as our own.

Below: We moved to Hawaii for 3 months for one of Kent's rotations. Here are some fun pictures of our good times.

Sidewalk Chalk for Foster Care in Utah

Kent and I went to the Sidewalk Chalk Fair for Foster Care in Salt Lake City on June 19th. We were fortunate that it was only a 5 min. drive away from where we live. We were only able to be there for the first day so a lot of these projects aren't quite finished but I wanted to share some of the AWESOME art work. It was a beautiful day {30+ degrees for Canadians so 90ish for the Americans :) }, there were a ton of cute little kids running around in the water park there, families together out there with their own projects to work on {I assume they were ones affected by foster care/adoption because of different racial backgrounds but they were sisters} and the art was fantastic! So I'll get right to it!

This one was just an absolutely amazing one, I truly couldn't believe that it was just chalk blended on the sidewalk and not just that it was huge. It would've been so difficult to sketch by hand and then fill in. The perfect picture for foster care.

This was an original and sweet one.

I love this one. I thought it was great. Come on Mother's (women) we can do it! Every child deserves a good home to be in and feel loved by someone.

This one was great for the kids to see.

I thought that this one was fantastic. We were listening to him talk about it and I couldn't believe that he was far from being finished it! He said he would have to add the rest of the shading. It looks like they paint it on. Just amazingly talented people!

Tiffany

TIFFANY- I have a love for crafts and the arts in general, music especially. I have gone to college for a medical secretary diploma so that Kent could go to school at first. One day I still plan to go to school, a class here and there until I have a degree possibly Social Work. Since being a part of adoption and working with so many wonderful people I have a real respect for people that are going through adoption or are the people that bring it all together for us. Although, I can think of no better job than to be a mother and I'm excited for that day to come. This past couple years I had a little taste of that feeling when I took care of a little girl that has Down's Syndrome. She's an amazing girl that has changed me forever. She has taught me about patience, unconditional love, loving being yourself, appreciation for the simple things in life, and potty training techniques :o) She's truly one of the few people that you can say they are "beautiful inside and out." Kent and I enjoyed taking her to the park, playing her imaginary games with her and her dolls, reading her books, making crafts with her, running around the house, singing her songs with her, and baking cookies. Moving on to some other things you might want to know about me. I'm not totally a girly girl. I like to be dressed up and having a girl's night out but I rarely miss a chance to go camping, fishing, hiking, canoing, snowshoeing, and roasting hotdogs and smores over a firepit. I grew up in a family of four older brothers which might explain the love for these activities along with the painting toe nails and curling hair too. I must say that I enjoy a night in watching movies and eating popcorn too. I am a big fan of board games, cute little puppies, and feeding the birds. There is much more to me so please feel free to ask anything you'd like to know.

Kent

KENT- Growing up most of my time was spent playing basketball and being involved in music. While basketball was mainly done in my front drive way, music took me around to competitions as well as to the UK for a tour we did. I also enjoy hiking, connecting with nature, golfing, woodworking, board games {even though Tiffany usually beats me}, and doing service projects {hopefully one day I can do some service projects related to Optometry in countries for those that are less fortunate} Optometry school has been great fun as I have had a chance to get ready for the rest of our lives. I grew up with a father who owned a bunch of small businesses and I always thought I would be involved in business. Then I served a mission for the LDS church and felt that I wanted to help people in my work. Optometry allowed me to combine both of these desires. Vision is something people never want to lose. When I was 12 years old, my nephew was born and lived with us for the first 6 years of his life. I also have a brother that was born when I was 6, so I've enjoyed having the experience of having a baby around the house and helping to be a good role model for them. We try to stay as close to our nieces and nephews as we can with every opportunity we go back home to be involved in our nephew's and niece's lives. While being away, we have been surrounded by great people with their children. I love to get down with the little ones and play. They have so much fun with simple things. I can't wait to come home at the end of the day and just spend all my time getting lost in my children. It will be a real blessing when it all comes together.
